I focus on the area of corporeality and a process â an inevitable element of performance art. I am inspired by a broader perspective of a body, seen as various relationships occurring on numerous levels, where limits are transgressed and the human body is seen in a wider perspective; where the limit of individuality is balancing at the verge of a broader community and, where the borders between nature and the norms of culture are blurred and, where the concept of the contemporary human being â the human body is transgressed by extending and incorporating other forms of life. I research the problematic of power, control, struggle, hate speech and discrimination â all rooted in a specific cultural context and related to the issues of corporeality. I am interested in the redefinition of the function of a body, its contextuality, primarily in the perspective of art.
My artistic activity is aimed at redefining the human condition by displaying it in the context of resistance, control and power. I research political and meta-political aspects of a body, its situation at the verge of the individual and the collective. I transgress the fundamental dichotomy of a body seen as a subject and an object as well as other divisions such as: splitting a human into body and soul, into a human and non-human body and into an individual and communal (extended) body. |
