Juha-Matti Rautiainen plays ambient music live with bass guitar. All the sounds heard in his performance have been produced entirely with bass guitar without any computers. The music is minimalistic, organic and it focuses on textures and moods instead of traditional musical elements.

For many years Rautiainen has been working as a professional musician in various bands and genres but when he cut the tip of his right index finger on a new year's day in 2014 he got the idea of composing ambient that could also be performed live in front of the audience solely with bass guitar. Norwegian based UAE records will release his debut album ”The Endless Now – Music for Stagnation” in the end of the year 2016.

”I've always thought that the most intriguing music will born, when you set limitations to yourself. My limitation on this certain project has also been the initiator of itself - bass guitar. While working on these compositions, I've found my instrument again and again. I've tried to use my bass guitar as unorthodox as possible. Accidents, mistakes and new effects, that I've used to shape the tone of my instrument, have been the source of an inspiration for my compositions.”
