Rogério Nuno Costa (b. 1978) is Portuguese performance artist, researcher, teacher, curator and writer based in Portugal and Finland. His work deals with the concept of documentation when applied to ephemeral performative actions. His performances, lectures, installations and texts explore the fields of theatre, movement, visual arts, literature, philosophy and anthropology, interconnecting public and private contexts, autobiographical discourses and informational/communicational strategies. Starting in 1999, his work has already been shown in France, UK, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Croatia, Austria, Serbia, Finland, Romania, the US and Canada, with the support of some of the most prestigious art festivals and cultural institutions.

Major in Communication and Journalism, Rogério Nuno Costa has studied Contemporary Art History and Contemporary Culture & New Technologies. He is currently attending the MA program in Visual Culture & Contemporary Art at the School of Arts Design and Architecture (Aalto University), developing a series of meta-pedagogical activities concerning his latest curatorial project University/Yliopisto. Usually he writes for cultural publications and is invited to participate in lectures and talks, mainly about documentation practices. Has been teaching, lecturing and leading workshops and masterclasses in academic institutions in different countries.

Apart from his own performance work, has been invited to write and direct theatre and dance performances for other artists and companies, also working as a dramaturgist, artistic consultant, editor and director of documentation. He is the author of the infamous art manifesto Dogma 2005, the concept book Vou A Tua Casa – Documentation Project and the online catalogue Big Curator Is Watching You!. Under the alias Chef Rø, he has been developing a series of projects where gastronomy, art, science, technology and philosophy merge: foodjaying, underground dining performances, conceptual culinary radio and TV shows, etc.

In the event Là-bas→ Self as the Third, Rogério Nuno Costa performs the complete version of his work Third Way™. Despite the title, the performance has nothing to do with a centrist political point of view; it is rather a philosophical statement, an anti-artistic call-to-order, a fictitious arithmetic equation (1+1=3), a geo-emotional declaration of love and a positivist standpoint towards Finland's political history. During the performance, he speaks to an audience of pre-apocalyptic "doomed human beings", proposing a conceptual loophole through which they can escape the end of times by travelling to a brand new Nordic Fim-Lândia, the finn'isterra, the ultimate End Land, the meta-Nation where the castaways will be accepted under the scope of an aesthetic asylum. Ultimately, Third Way™ aims to establish a political party that is trans-universal, post-dogmatic and "Finlandized": the art of neutrality turned into a spiritual dogma – or a man falling in love by a country (Finland) for aesthetic reasons only.
